Lincoln Pius X graduate and Texas A&M second baseman Michael Helman was taken in the 11th round of the MLB Draft Wednesday morning by the Minnesota Twins.
Helman led the Aggies with a .369 batting average, playing in all 62 games his junior year. He also led the team with 61 runs scored, 92 hits, 17 doubles, and a .526 slugging percentage.
Defensively, Helman turned a team-best 31 double plays. Helman’s Texas A&M teammate and Lincoln Southeast alum Nolan Hoffman was taken in the fifth round by the Miami Marlins on Tuesday.
Also worth noting, Creighton catcher and Creighton Prep graduate Michael Emodi was selected by the Kansas City Royals in the 11th round – two picks prior to the Twins selecting Helman.
