A high-speed chase in east-central Nebraska ended in the arrest of the female driver and the recovery of a child reported missing by Colorado authorities.
The Nebraska State Patrol reports a trooper attempted to stop a sport utility vehicle speeding down Highway 6 late Thursday night near Sutton, but the driver refused and, instead, took off. A chase began, which reached speeds of 115 miles per hour as the SUV passed through Fillmore County into Saline County on Highway 6.
After the chase began, troopers discovered the vehicle was identified in an AMBER Alert issued by Colorado authorities earlier in the evening.
Saline County Sheriff’s deputies laid down spike strips which flattened the tires and brought the pursuit to an end just east of Friend about a half hour after it began.
Troopers arrested 46-year-old Donetta Phipps of Thornton, Colorado. They safely recovered the missing child, Kyley Phipps, inside the vehicle.
