A tragic end to a water search and rescue at Ginger Cove Lake outside of Valley. Rescue crews were called to the lake around 1:30 p.m. Saturday after an empty pontoon boat was found drifting on the water. Valley Police Chief Brett Smith says the body of a man was recovered around 7:30 this morning.
Chief Smith says, “The body has been identified as Dennis J. McGuire, a 49 year old resident of Ginger Cove.”
McGuire was last seen around 1 a.m. Saturday morning. Water rescue teams from Valley, Omaha Fire, Waterloo and Yutan were called in to search the lake. They were assisted by boats from Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and the Department of Natural Resources. Omaha Police helicopter also conducted a search of the lake by air.
Smith says there are clues in the case but will not release details at this time as it is an ongoing investigation. An autopsy is scheduled.
