The body of a 28-year-old Lincoln man has been recovered from Pawnee Lake near Lincoln.
Christian Montoya had been on a flotation device at the lake Sunday afternoon with his two-year-old son, Christian Montoya, Jr., when they drifted out of a swimming area into the main body of the lake.
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission reports both fell into the water. Montoya attempted to get his son to shore when someone on a personal watercraft grabbed the boy and took him to shore. When he went to retrieve Montoya, he had disappeared.
Rescue workers rushed the toddler to a local hospital, where he was reported in good condition.
Game and Parks, the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, Malcolm Volunteer Fire and Rescue, and the Lincoln Fire and Rescue Department dive team responded to the lake to search for Montoya.
Rescuers recovered Montoya’s body Sunday evening.
