Nebraska men’s golf alumnus Brady Schnell took home his first Web.com Tour title after winning the Wichita Open on Sunday.
The victory vaulted Schnell to 12th place on the money list with $156,478. A year ago, it took $157,823 to be one of the top 25 money winners who went on to earn their PGA Tour cards.
The win came at an ideal time as Schnell will also be competing in one of golf’s four major championships alongside the likes of Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Jordan Speith and others at this year’s British Open at Carnoustie in Scotland this coming July.
With his victory, Schnell picked up his first win on the Web.com Tour in his 100th appearance. He became the fifth Husker alumnus to win on the Web.com Tour joining Mike Schuchart (3), Steve Gotsche (2), Scott Gutschewski (2) and Steve Friesen (1) marking a total of nine victories by former Husker golfers.
Schnell finished his eligibility in 2007 after earning first team All-Big 12 honors. He helped lead the team to back-to-back NCAA appearances in 2006 and 2007.
