The National Weather Service forecasts hot days for this 4th of July holiday period with the chance storms possibility dampening the celebration in central and western Nebraska.
The NWS office in Omaha/Valley forecasts highs approaching 96 degrees this afternoon with a low tonight hovering between 74 and 77. Eastern Nebraska should be hot and humid for the 4th with highs between 90 to 96 and lows between 68 to 73 degrees.
The outlook is a bit different in central and western Nebraska.
The NWS office in Hastings expects sunny skies through the remainder of today, dipping to a low of 74 this evening. It is expected to be in the mid-90s on the 4th with a chance of thunderstorms tomorrow evening and a low of 68.
It is sunny and hot in western Nebraska today and will be partly cloudy with a low of 69 tonight. The North Platte NWS office forecasts a slight chance of rain on the 4th with a high of 89. The chance of showers or thunderstorms is only 20-to-30% during the day with a 40% chance of thunderstorms in western Nebraska the evening of the 4th. The low is expected to be 66.
