Update: Omaha police arrested Aido Guizar who has been booked for 2nd degree murder and use of a weapon to commit a felony in connection to the stabbing death at 31st and Jackson Street. The victim’s name has not been released.
There were two murders in Omaha over the 4th of July holiday within blocks of each other. Officer Michael Pecha says they received the first call just after 10 p.m. on Wednesday.
Officer Pecha says, “Officers responded to a radio call to 31st and Jackson Street to investigate a cutting. When officers arrived they located an adult male victim who was transported by medics to the Nebraska Medical Center and then died at the hospital. We are not looking for a suspect. More information on that will come to light as the investigation continues.”
At 4:22 Thursday, officers responded to a radio call at the Jackson Towers on south 27th Street to investigate a shooting. Police located a deceased male inside. The victim is believed to be in his late teens.
Police are not releasing names of the victims until their next of kin are notified.
