Thousands of children were separated from their parents at the Mexico border as they tried to enter the U.S. Senator Deb Fischer says they are working through the issue on Capitol Hill.
Senator Fischer says, “Nobody that I know of in the Senate, Republican or Democrat, likes seeing the kids separated from their parents. I am the co-sponsor of a bill that would keep these families together and put a deadline on the processes.”
That separation time has not yet been decided and Senator Fischer says depending on who you talk to that could range from 10 to 20 days.
The next question is if the U.S. has the resources to accomplish this. Senator Fischer says they looking at increasing those resources, looking at military basis to house people but there would be a shorter period of time people are separated.
