An Arizona man who went missing from a detasseling crew in central Nebraska has been found dead in a cornfield.
The Hall County Sheriff’s Office identifies the victim as 52-year-old Cruz Urias-Beltran of San Luis, Arizona.
The detasseling crew began searching for Urias-Beltran Wednesday when he didn’t show as the crew concluded its work for the day. After they failed to find him, Rivera Agri Inc. called the sheriff’s office to report him missing.
Deputies, workers, and volunteers renewed the search late into Wednesday evening, before officials called it off due to darkness. The search included a Nebraska State Patrol plane along with two private aircraft, circling over the 300-acre field.
More than 100 volunteers joined the search the next day.
Urias-Beltran’s body was found Thursday afternoon.
