State prosecutors will seek to put Aubrey Trail to death for allegedly killing and dismembering Sydney Loofe.
Attorneys for the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office filed papers in Saline County District Court outlining their intent to seek the death penalty for Trail, stating that the murder of Loofe exhibited “exceptional depravity.”
Trail and his 24-year-old girlfriend, Bailey Boswell, are accused of luring Loofe away from Lincoln in mid-November and killing her.
Loofe’s remains were found in garbage bags near Edgar.
Trail, who is 51, is expected to enter a not guilty plea in a scheduled court appearance today.
Trail has talked with the news media since his arrest, claiming Loofe died accidently and insisting Boswell had nothing to do with it.
