An employee badly injured in an explosion at a grain elevator in northeastern Nebraska has died of his injuries.
Authorities report 55-year-old Maurice “Maury” Kellogg has died from injuries sustained in the explosion May 29th at the Anderson Farms elevator in South Sioux City.
Kellogg was one of three employees in the elevator at the time of the explosion. Kellogg was taken to CHI St. Elizabeth in Lincoln. One other employee suffered non-life-threatening burns.
The explosion rocked the area around the elevator, forcing the evacuation of 26 houses. It blew a huge hole in the side of the elevator. The top of the elevator had to be removed due to safety concerns.
