A search for a six-week-old infant which began in western Nebraska has ended in Colorado with the recovery of the infant and the arrest of two people.
Western Nebraska authorities issued an Amber Alert for Betty Zamora after 37-year-old Maria Campa and 41-year-old Carlos Zamora fled with the baby from an apartment complex in Sidney Tuesday.
Law enforcement sought the public’s help Wednesday in locating the baby.
Officers sought Campa and Zamora on a felony custody violation.
State official took custody of the infant at birth because she had tested positive for controlled substances. The child had been returned to the family, but state officials couldn’t find the baby when they went to the apartment for a wellness check.
Police thought the couple, originally from Colorado, might have been heading back to that state.
