The Nebraska Department of Labor reports the unemployment rate in Omaha move above the 3%-mark last month, jumping from 2.8% in May to 3.1% in June. The Lincoln metropolitan area which recorded a 2.6% unemployment rate in May saw its unemployment rate rise three-tenths of a percent to 2.9%. In Grand Island, unemployment rose from 2.9% to 3.1%.
The United States unemployment rate rose from 3.8% in May to 4% in June.
Total non-farm employment rose to 1,041,142 in June from 1,039,379 in May. Omaha employment topped 510,000 with the Lincoln area dropping just below 190,000. The Grand Island workforce topped 43,000 in June.
