This year’s Washington County Fair in Arlington is going to be huge. Kara Neuverth is a fair board member and says they are marking a huge milestone. She says, “We are thrilled to celebrate 100 years. I can’t believe it is here. It looks like we are going to have great weather. We start Friday night with a big concert. We will have all the usual events and we’ve added some new events that will bring back the traditions we’ve had over the past 100 years.”
Neuverth says they did some research and learned at the first fairs pie and ice cream was served each day. The area church groups are busy baking pies now so they will have plenty for visitors when the fair starts. Another tradition was the daily baseball game on the fairgrounds.
Friday, national country music entertainer Kip Moore will perform. Saturday and Sunday, cowboys will compete in the rodeo. Sunday it is bike ride to the fair, mud volleyball, a backyard bbq and the big parade.
Children from across the county will also be showing livestock. There will be a number of other exhibits that include quilts, flowers, photography, craft projects and much more.
Other events include a tractor and pickup pull, garden tractor pull, wine tasting and more.
The fair runs through Wednesday, August 1st.
