A California man is behind bars in Nebraska after a traffic stop conducted by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office at 5:45 a.m.
The deputy and his K-9 Fletch stopped the vehicle with Pennsylvania license plates pulling a U-Haul trailer near 147th and West Center Road for a traffic violation. While speaking to the driver, David Leslie, the deputy became suspicious and asked to search the vehicle and trailer. Leslie denied the request so the deputy deployed Fletch to conduct an investigation. Fletch alerted the deputy to the presence of drugs inside the trailer. At that time a search was conducted and the deputy found 210 pounds of marijuana in heat sealed bundles.
Leslie was in route to St. Paul, Minnesota from Reno, Nevada. He was booked for possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and failure to affix a drug tax stamp.
