A Lexington landlord has been found guilty of discriminatory housing practices.
Dawson County District Judge Donald Rowlands has issued a ruling that found Gerald Rich guilty of discriminatory housing practices in managing the Cottonwood Apartment Complex in Lexington.
The Attorney General’s office filed a lawsuit against Rich, who owns Cottonwood, in 2015.
The court found that Rich frequently used racial slurs and derogatory language toward tenants of the apartment complex. The court enjoined Rich and his employees from discriminating on the basis of race, national origin, and/or religion in violation of the Nebraska Fair Housing Act.
