All Nebraskans are invited to head to the Boys Town Campus a new family friendly event. Marketing Coordinator at Boys Town Hospital, Kara Kostell says they are holding their first ever Healthy Family Field Day.
Kostell says, “This is a new event for us this year. We’ve always had a summer event but we wanted to change the focus of what we had going. It is still a free, family friendly event but we are focusing on four special areas. We have a section on nutrition. One on physical activity. One on mental health and one on home and neighborhood safety.”
Kostell says they have great local vendors that will provide education and entertaining pieces that focus on those four topics. They have a center stage that will be doing hourly presentations.
Kostell adds they are very pleased to be adding a mental health section this year as that has been a very important topic for both children and adults. Several organizations will be providing great resources for families. She says, “We are focusing on different aspects of health like finding things you are interested in. Groups that will teach about different aspects of taking care of yourself and having a good time and making yourself a well-rounded person who has fun every day.”
Families can enjoy an afternoon of jumping, playing, running an obstacle course, bounce houses, field games and interactive health and fitness demonstrations. The event is at no cost and runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Boys Town Medical Campus at 139th and Pacific Street in Omaha.
