Four people have been arrested and hundreds of stolen items recovered during a traffic stop on Interstate 80 in central Nebraska.
The Nebraska State Patrol reports troopers responded during the early morning hours of Wednesday to a report of several men attempting to use potentially stolen gift cards to buy new gift cards at several Casey’s General Stores.
Troopers located a sport utility vehicle traveling east on I-80 near Grand Island which had been reported stolen by the rental company. During the traffic stop, troopers found a large quantity of stolen items and fraudulent gift cards.
NSP reports the stolen items included 925 PlayStation, Xbox One, Xbox 360, or Nintendo Switch video games, 68 fraudulent gift cards or credit cards, 22 miscellaneous gift cards or credit cards, and hundreds of packs of cigarettes.
There was also a small amount of marijuana in the SUV.
NSP estimates the value of the items at $50,000.
The driver, 25-year-old Herbert Broomfield, Jr., and passengers, 26-year-old Eugene Alvarez, 29-year-old Antonio Franklin, and 28-year-old Danial Moore, have been arrested on several charges. All are from Chicago.
All four have been jailed in Hall County.
