Omaha police are investigating an officer involved shooting death of a resident of the Siena Francis House homeless shelter Wednesday afternoon. Witnesses told police that around 4:30 a man with a butcher knife attacked two women in the parking lot. The man then took a female employee hostage, held the knife to her throat and forced her into a closet.
Police called in a hostage negotiator and about fifteen minutes later police broke down the door and shots were fired. Deputy Chief Scott Gray says no officers were injured in this incident and the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
The three women who were attacked were hospitalized and should recover. The name of the suspect has not been released.
