A plan for expanding Nebraska’s relationships abroad has been published by a council created by the Gov. Pete Ricketts.
The Strategic Plan for International Engagement lays out six strategies that Gov. Pete Ricketts and members of his council hope will expand Nebraska’s presence abroad. One of those strategies includes growing foreign interest in the state’s universities, a goal council-member Ronnie Green, Chancellor of University of Nebraska, says is in line with university goals.
One goal of big concern for Ricketts is expanding and reinforcing international trade relations. Ricketts says soybean exports alone accounted for around two billion dollars in trade last year.
To this end, the plan also calls for the creation and implementation of a trade mission schedule covering the next five years
Other strategies in the plan involve collaborating with the Nebraska Tourism Commission to promote Nebraska’a “brand” and the creation of international network of “goodwill ambassadors”.
