A 15 year old student at Bellevue West High School was taken into custody Wednesday morning for bringing a handgun into the school. School administrators received information that the student was armed and the school resource officers made contact with teen and confirmed he was in possession of a loaded handgun.
The student was arrested and taken to the Juvenile Justice Center in Papillion. The boy was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm at a school, use of a weapon to commit a felony and unlawful possession of a firearm.
No information was received that any threats were made or that there was a plan to harm any students or others in the school.
The investigation as to how the teen got the gun continues.
