A judge has tossed a lawsuit that would have knocked the Medicaid expansion proposal off the November ballot.
The Judge rejected arguments that the petition effort was “invalid and legally insufficient,” clearing the measure for the November 6th election, pending an appeal to the state Supreme Court.
The decision came as no surprise to Insure the Good Life Campaign Chair Meg Mandy.
“We felt very confident in our position in the lawsuit.” says Mandy, adding she believed favored the petition effort.
“The Nebraska Courts have always stood on the side of voters in upholding the right to decide important ballot initiatives as long as they meet the statutory obligations.” says Mandy.
Mandy says her organization has been working to publicize the initiative after the Secretary of State’s Office determined the petition effort gathered enough signatures to put the issue on the ballot.
