The days are getting shorter and summer is coming to a close. That means it is almost time for one of Nebraska’s largest fall adventure spots to open. Tim Vala owns Vala’s Pumpkin Patch and Apple Orchard near Gretna and says they are in their third decade of operations. Visitors will see some new and improved features.
Vala says, “We actually redid a few things this year. Try to spruce things up so the Storybook Barn. the Barnyard Adventure, we added some stuff. Made some new things. We added quite a bit to a playground that is right by the Pie Barn so there will be more play areas for the kids and expanded the donut in our Harvest Barn to keep up with demand. We always had a hard time keeping up with the donuts. The apple cider donuts are pretty popular.”
Speaking of cider, Vala says they got into the apple business a few years ago and now have a pick and take orchard. They also have plans in the future to make and sell their own cider. That will be in a new area that is apple themed.
Along with pumpkins and apples, Vala’s features many play areas for kids, hayrack rides, Halloween haunted features, live shows, train and pony rides, paintball and more. There are a number of full restaurants and snack stands on site as well.
Vala’s officially opens to the public on September 14th.
