It barely began before thunderstorms packing lightning called a halt to the first game under new Husker Head Football Coach Scott Frost, eventually causing Nebraska to cancel the game.
So, we start over.
The home opener with Akron has been scrapped. The Huskers will open the 2018 season under Frost against Colorado next Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT.
The Akron game was scheduled for a 7pm kickoff. There indeed was a kickoff, but that was it. The kickoff was the only play of the game as the teams were forced to leave the field due to lightning in the area.
After an over three hour delay, the University of Nebraska decided to cancel the game.
Any adjustments to the 2018 football schedule will be announced at a later date.
Ticket holders are encouraged to hold on to their tickets from tonight’s game.
