Several years ago, CHI Health announced they would be closing their hospital on north 30th Street and relocate to another facility. That started the wheels in motion for Boys Town National Research Hospital. Director John Arch says phase one of their renovation project happened pretty fast.
Arch says, “The first phase was a couple of years ago when Creighton University Medical Center announced they were relocating to the Bergan Campus. We began the analysis of what it was going take to separate our utilities. Our utilities on this campus were completely tied together. The last two years have been involved with separating those utilities so we are free standing with all of that support.”
Arch says now on to phase two. They are renovating about 23-thousand square feet of space that will mostly be patient care. The project includes adding internal medicine. Their pediatric clinics will be adding new space as well as pediatric ophthalmology.
The project should be complete by the summer of 2019.
