The American Red Cross of Nebraska and Southwest Iowa will honor local heroes from Nebraska and Iowa at the Husker – Hawkeye football game on November 23rd. Executive Director Rachelle Lipker says, “We are looking for everyday heroes that we know that are out there in the community. We have different categories for the heroes that we are looking for.”
Lipker says they are looking for good samaritans and those in public service that includes law enforcement and firefighters, military or medical professionals who went above and beyond the call of duty or those who have helped in a disaster situation.
Nominations will be accepted through September 30th. One person from each state will be selected and they will receive tickets to the game and receive on-field recognition.
People who are nominated to be a hero must be at least 18 years of age and live, work or go to school in Nebraska or Iowa.
