A 37-year-old Omaha man has been sentenced to 12 ½ years in federal prison and ordered to pay $4,315 in restitution for robbing a Bank of the West branch in Omaha.
The U.S. Attorney’s office reports Robert Sanford will serve three years of supervised released after he serves his prison term.
Federal prosecutors say Sanford entered a Bank of the West branch the day after Christmas last year and demanded $10,000. Sanford wore sunglasses and had his hands in his pockets. The teller feared he had a weapon and gave him everything in her cash drawer: $4,315.
Sanford wasn’t armed. He did have two prior robbery convictions. He has been sentenced as a career offender.
