An early morning crash in southern Missouri has killed an 11-year-old Nebraska girl and seriously injured two of her brothers.
The Bolivar Police Department says Eliza Bakirane died at the scene on Highway 13 in Bolivar shortly after midnight Tuesday morning. Six of nine family members suffered injuries in the wreck.
The accident report states a sport utility vehicle driven by 40-year-old Maria Borland of Lincoln, the girl’s mother, drove off the right side of Highway 13 as it traveled south. The SUV swerved left into the median, hitting loose dirt and gravel in a construction zone, overturning several times. The SUV came to rest on its wheels.
The two brothers, Isaac and Reese, were flown to St. Louis Children’s Hospital to be treated for critical injuries after being thrown from the vehicle.
