Individual farm and ranch families in Nebraska will now have the opportunity to join Nebraska Farm Bureau’s new large group Association Health plan. President Steve Nelson made that announcement earlier today.
Nelson says, “We are pleased to announce today that the Nebraska Farm Bureau is forming a medical health care plan. It will be called the Nebraska Farm Bureau Medical Health Care Plan.”
The new large group plan is for farmer, rancher and agribusiness members with Medica as the carrier. Vice President of Individual and Family Business Geoff Barish says, “For us, the idea or offer or opportunity to work with the Nebraska Farm Bureau Federation is something we jumped at. This is an organization that has a strong history and a strong brand and someone we felt very comfortable working with.”
Barish says is the beginning and hope this is a long term association with the goal of delivering good health care options for Nebraska farmers and ranchers. The goal is to provide a new health insurance option with lower premiums by grouping farmers, ranchers and agribusinesses so they can be in a larger, more stabilizing pool.
The plan is available to all eligible Farm Bureau members regardless of health status. Medica has developed coverage options, premiums and other provisions for the members. Those with benefit questions or want more information should contact a Farm Bureau agent. Open enrollment is October 1st through December 1st.
