An 83-year-old woman has been killed in a central Nebraska collision that began when a semi tractor-trailer rear-ended a tractor.
The Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office reports Marjorie Dowdy of Shickley was killed Tuesday after the semi bounced into her lanes and she ran into the truck.
According to the accident report, the semi was traveling east on Nebraska 74 Tuesday afternoon when it rear-ended the tractor as it turned right. The impact forced the semi into the westbound lanes of the highway and into the path of Dowdy.
The driver of the tractor, 62-year-old William Swartzendruber of rural Shickley, was flown to a Lincoln hospital. He is listed in fair condition.
The truck driver, 27-year-old Matthew Supanchick of Kearney was taken to Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva.
