Two young people have died, one has been seriously injured after a one-car accident in Omaha.
Omaha police report a car traveling north on John J Pershing Drive very early Sunday morning left the street, spun down a slight embankment, and hit a tree.
A passenger, 22-year-old Rylee Thornton of Omaha, died at the scene.
The driver, 21-year-old Ellijah Griffin of Omaha, and another passenger, 20-year-old Deyonna Griffin of Omaha, were rushed to Nebraska Medicine hospital. Ellijah Griffin died later of the injuries sustained in the wreck. Deyonna Griffin suffered a serious injury to her head, but it is not considered life threatening.
Omaha police say they are investigating speed and alcohol has possible contributing factors in the crash.
