A tragic ending to what had been a fun family outing. A 2 year old boy injured last Wednesday at JK’s Pumpkin Patch north of Lincoln died early this morning. Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office identified the boy as Caleb Acuna.
Caleb, his 5 year old sister and mother were on a bounce pad when a strong gust of wind hit Wednesday evening. The mother and little girl were thrown from the pad when it broke loose from its tethers. It traveled about 40 yards and trapped Caleb underneath. He was rushed to a hospital in critical condition. Officials say he was taken off of life support at 12:45 this morning.
The 5 year old sister was treated and released from a hospital with minor injuries.
This is an ongoing investigation. An autopsy has been ordered. The National Weather Service reports that wind gusts of up to 59 mph were reported that evening.
