Capital One Financial took over the operation of Cabela’s credit card after Cabela’s sale to Bass Pro Shops.
Capital One has filed notice with the Nebraska Department of Labor of its intention to law off 155 workers in more than 50 different job titles.
Lay offs could begin in December. The company expects to complete trimming its payroll by the first of March. Sixty-day notices have gone out to affected employees.
Capital One has issued a statement in which it said it will continue the serve customers with Cabela’s Club credit cards, but will shift some of the other responsibilities handled in Lincoln to other branches.
Bass Pro of Springfield, Missouri bought Cabela’s, of Sidney, last year. Capitol One took over the credit card operation in a round-about matter. Cabela’s World’s Foremost Bank subsidiary was sold to Synovus Financial, which then sold the Cabela’s credit card operation to Capital One.
The Lincoln credit card operation employs slightly more than 500 workers.
