Americans remain sharply divided in the wake of the hearings and confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. University of Nebraska – Omaha Political Science Professor Paul Landow says there are so many factors coming into play right now he doesn’t see the tension resolving anytime soon.
Landau says, “It is divided on a partisan basis but also on a social and political philosophical basis and it is going to be that way for the foreseeable future. There are extremes on both sides that need to be tamed down a bit for sure but again we are just at a place where there is a deep disagreement. We have to try to get back to some a semblance of civility.”
The divide could grow even stronger as the November election nears. Landau says as things are stacking up right now, the Democrats have a good chance at winning back the U.S. House of Representatives. However, Landow says he also predicted that Hillary Clinton would win the presidential seat in 2016 so when it comes to politics, nothing is a sure bet.
