Authorities are investigating if weather played a role in a fatality in extreme southwestern Nebraska in which a pedestrian was run over.
Forty-six-year-old Douglass Singer was struck by a pick-up while walking along U.S. 34 early Tuesday evening, about three miles northeast of Benkelman.
Singer, who lived in the village of Max in Dundy County, was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities identified the pick-up driver as 23-year-old Makayla Wiese of O’Neill.
It was storming the night of the wreck. Lightning might have played a role.
