A 28-year-old Iowa man has been charged with driving drunk, causing a fatal head-on crash in Omaha.
The Omaha Police Department reports medics arriving at the scene of the wreck noticed Tony Kenkel of Earling, Iowa showed signs of impairment. Kenkel has been booked into the Douglas County jail.
Police say 21-year-old Joseph Daniels of Council Bluffs died at the scene. Twenty-one-year-old Thomas Greise, also of Council Bluffs, suffered serious, life-threatening injuries.
According to Omaha police, Daniels was driving west on U.S. Highway 36 when an eastbound pick-up driven by Kenkel crossed into the westbound lane and ran head-on into Daniels’ car. The wreck occurred Saturday evening near the U.S. Highway 36 near Lake Cunningham.
