The state Department of Labor reports the state unemployment rate didn’t budge from August, but both Omaha and Lincoln saw a two-tenths of a percent drop in their unemployment. Grand Island also saw its unemployment rate drop.
State officials report the unemployment rate for Omaha dropped from 2.8% in August to 2.6% in September. The Lincoln rate dropped from 2.6% to 2.4%. In Grand Island, the unemployment rate dropped from 2.8% last month to 2.6% this month.
Total nonfarm employment in Nebraska grew last month, rising from 1,033,297 in August to 1,037,445 in September. Omaha, Lincoln, and Grand Island all saw slight increases in total employment.
Nationally, the workforce swelled to 149,741,000 workers last month.
