The Nebraska Democratic Party held a “Be a Voter, Save Nebraska” rally yesterday in north Omaha. Party Chairperson Jane Kleeb says there was a very strong showing of support.
Former officeholders, U.S. Senators Ben Nelson and Bob Kerrey, Congressmen Brad Ashford and John Cavanaugh, Lt. Governor Kim Robak, Lt. Governor Maxine Moul attended along with current candidates Jane Raybould, Jessica McClure, Kara Eastman, Paul Theobald, Bob Krist, Lynne Walz, Spencer Danner and Jane Skinner.
Kleeb says the Nebraska Democratic Party is a big fan of Pod Save America who started this “Save Nebraska” trend. She says, “Essentially the message is if we want to see our country and our state go in a different direction then we have to be voters. We just can’t sit back and think that somebody else is going to take care of it.”
Kleeb says this event was to kick-off the final two weeks of the campaign. Kleeb says, “We are excited. We think we are going to definitely pick up some wins. I’m not one of those Democrats that who says ‘it is going to be a blue wave everywhere’. I’m a very realistic and pragmatic Democrat who knows we are still in a red state but we have solid candidates and I know we are going to have some victories.”
