Today is the last day to register to vote for the upcoming November elections.
Secretary of State John Gale says, if you haven’t registered yet, you only option at this point is to do so in person.
“Voter registration through the Department of Motor Vehicles or online or through other government benefit agencies ended on October 19th” says Gale. “The only opportunity after that date was to register in person at the county election offices.”
Gale encourages all Nebraskans to register and vote.
He says even the most low-profile elected positions can wind up carrying immense power and have a huge impact on the lives of residents.
“There are significant races all the way down that ballot,” says Gale. From who will represent Nebraskans in the Senate to who will serve on local school boards, Gale says all the races matter and every vote counts.
He notes t there are also significant ballot initiatives, both local and statewide, that need to be addressed, such as whether to expand Medicaid.
Election officer will be open until 6PM today.
