A member of the Cornhusker Marching Band was killed in a two-car accident in southern Lincoln late Friday night.
Lincoln police report 20-year-old Tyler Butterfield of Norfolk died in the collision which occurred around 10:30pm Friday as one car was leaving a parking lot onto 10th Street near Arapahoe Street.
Five others were injured in the crash.
Butterfield died at the scene. He was a junior at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln who was majoring in accounting. He was in his third year as a trumpet player in the university marching band.
The other five injured in the wreck were taken to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
No citations have been issued so far by Lincoln police.
