A Schuyler Community Schools preschool teacher has been killed, along with an Omaha man in a head-on collision which started a chain reaction in Colfax County.
The Colfax County Attorney’s Office reports 48-year-old Karrie Healy was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident early Wednesday morning.
The accident report say Healy was driving south on Nebraska 15 when a northbound sport utility vehicle driven by 44-year-old Jason Bruns of Omaha crossed the center line and struck Healy’s SUV head-on. Bruns died later from injuries sustained in the wreck.
Both vehicles came to rest in the middle of the highway when a northbound pick-up ran into them, bounced off, and landed in a ditch.
A short time later, a southbound semi tractor-trailer ran into the two vehicles, knocking one off the highway and another into the northbound lane of Nebraska 15. The semi ended up in a field.
Neither the driver of the pick-up nor the truck driver suffered injuries in the wreck.
