A special celebration will be held at Omaha’s CHI Bergan Mercy Hospital on Saturday. Nurses in the neo-natal intensive care unit will be reunited with some of the babies who were born premature or very ill when they came into the world and needed special care.
NICU Director Lauren Westerdale says, “Some of them are here with us for months and months. Some of them are with us for just a few days. I think it is really special for our staff to see what an impact we have made on the family. It gives meaning to what we do here every day. To see these kids go home, grow and thrive, there is nothing more rewarding.”
About 250 children and families from across Nebraska are returning for Saturday’s celebration. They reunion is a barn yard bash themed party and will start at 4 p.m.
