Four juveniles have been taken into custody after reports surfaced that threats had been made against several students at Riverside Public Schools in Spalding and Cedar Rapids.
The Nebraska State Patrol reports an investigation by multiple agencies began in late October when a student reported threatening statements to school officials who forwarded the report to the Spalding Police Department.
The four juveniles face three counts of conspiracy to commit first-degree assault each. Two will be charged in Greeley County. Two will be charged in Nance County. The four, ranging in age from 13 to 17, were taken into custody late last week.
Officials say there is no ongoing threat to the school or public. Law enforcement officers were stationed at both the Spalding and Cedar Rapids campuses throughout last week.
Officials with the Spalding Police Department, Nance County Sheriff’s Office, Boone County Sheriff’s Office, Greeley County Sheriff’s Office, and the Nebraska State Patrol are working together on the investigation.
