A threat in the early morning hours caused officials to post extra security around the County-City Building in downtown Lincoln.
Deputies with the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office stood guard Tuesday; armed with rifles.
Lincoln Police Department spokeswoman, Officer Angela Sands, says police want the public’s help to identify the man who made the threat.
Sands says a man who entered the Walmart on North 27th Street in Lincoln just past midnight became belligerent after being told he couldn’t buy a gun until later in the day and made threats “directed at the County-City Building.”
The man grabbed 500 rounds of ammunition and fled the store without paying.
Police reports he drove away in a newer, silver Dodge Charger with in-transit stickers.
Sands says police believe they encountered the man driving near 27th and Vine. He sped away after an officer attempting to stop him.
Lancaster County Sheriff’s deputies provide security for the building.
