A weekend hunting trip turned tragic near Valley Saturday night. Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies received a call at 6 p.m. regarding to an accident shooting. When they arrived they met with 39 year old Joshua McArtor who said he accidently shot his father, 58 year old Stacy McArtor.
McArtor said that he and his father were deer hunting and at 5:45 p.m. he had left his tree stand and walked to the one his father was in saying he was leaving for the night. Stacy McArtor then handed Joshua his rifle so he could get out of the tree stand. When being handed the rifle, Joshua stated it went off and struck his father.
Stacy McArtor was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy is scheduled and the investigation continues.
