Cindi and Christine Allen claim the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services was negligent in the escape of Armon Dixon and Timothy Clausen in June of 2016.
The two escaped the Lincoln Correctional Center in a laundry truck. Authorities gave chase that Friday evening, but they got away.
Dixon, a convicted rapist, broke into Christine Allen’s Lincoln apartment where Cindi, her mother, was visiting. Cindi’s lawyer says she thought Dixon would rape her daughter and then could kill them both. He assaulted both, according to the lawsuit.
Christine Allen escaped into a bathroom where she called 9-1-1.
Police and emergency crews arrived. Both women were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Police arrested Dixon after a short pursuit.
Clausen was arrested later, in Omaha.
Cindi Allen is asking for nearly $217,000. Christine Allen asks for just under $300,000 in the lawsuit.
The lawsuit names the state, the Department of Correctional Services, State Corrections Director Scott Frakes as well as unnamed prison employees as defendants.
