There were some anxious moments Thursday afternoon after someone reported a vehicle in the water at Cunningham Lake just north of Omaha. Fire Captain Jason Bradley says that vehicle had intentionally was driven into the water and abandoned. It was visible because the lake is being drained to combat zebra mussels. It wasn’t the only vehicle found in the lake.
Captain Bradley says, “As the water level is going down we actually found another vehicle in the same vicinity. As the water levels continue to go down we may get more calls on this.”
Captain Bradley says they are marking the found vehicles with caution tape letting the public know they have been reported. Others may be located as it will take a few more weeks to completely drain the lake. People who see other vehicles surface are asked to call 911.
