Lincoln police now believe they know more about the case in which a man jumped out of a moving car in north Lincoln, later dying at a local hospital.
It appears now to investigators that 42-year-old Stacy Talbot was trying to get out of the car after 32-year-old Jesse James Wilson shot him; several times.
Investigators say a witness has told them that he and Talbot were riding in the backseat of the car Wilson was driving. Talbot, according to James Howard, asked Wilson to stop the car so he could get out. Talbot also began punching Wilson in the back of the head. Wilson turned and began firing at Talbot as he tried to escape the car.
Talbot got out of the car, either by his own efforts or force, and landed onto North 14th Street near Belmont Elementary School. He died later of a gunshot wound.
Wilson, along with 34-year-old Sherry Lynn Thomas and the 27-year-old Howard, fled the city and the state. Police believe they stole along the way. Police arrested Howard in Texas. Officers arrested Wilson and Thomas in Clovis, New Mexico.
Wilson has been charged with second-degree murder. Thomas has been charged with accessory to second-degree murder.
