A 57-year-old inmate transferred to the Nebraska prison system from South Dakota has died at a Lincoln hospital.
The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services reports the cause of Daniel Stetter’s death has yet to be determined. He died Friday afternoon.
Corrections says Stetter came to the Nebraska State Penitentiary in Lincoln in April of 2002 as an interstate transfer from South Dakota, serving time for manslaughter, two counts of first-degree assault and driving while intoxicated.
Stetter had been treated for long-term medical conditions, according to corrections officials.
State law requires a grand jury investigate any death when an inmate dies in the custody of the Department of Correctional Services.
