Scotts Bluff County Attorney David Eubanks says an autopsy has been performed on the body of Corey Green, who died shortly after being arrested by Scottsbluff police and booked into the jail last Friday. After being incarcerated that afternoon, Green was taken to Regional West Medical Center where he died.
A warrant had been issued for Green after an altercation on November 10th in Gering in which a witness told police Green punched him. The witness told police Green was supposed to be in Alliance for rehabilitation and when he suggested he just go to jail instead of rehab, Green punched him in the eye.
State law requires a formal investigation into any death which occurs while someone is in custody.
